WEEKEND WORKSHOPS!! I will guide students through hand-building and sculpting skills during weekend workshops in April, May, June, and hopefully in September and October this year. These will take on my covered back patio outside my East Nashville home studio. Throughout these weekends, we will cover building with coils and building solid, with a concentration on the human figure/face/hands, as well as working with slabs, pinching out small functional items, and creating wall sculptures. I want this to be a space in which those new to clay sculpture work can figure out the basics, and those who have some experience can dive deeper. In addition to these technical aspects, I hope to lead students through small intuitive practices and wax poetic about healing through art, and my deep love for clay itself. I will also talk about my artistic process. (Hint- it's messy), and ideas for developing your own. These will be Saturdays and Sundays, 10-4 both days. The cost is $150 for each workshop. This price does not include clay or firing- you can buy clay from me for $25 for a bag of 25 lbs. or bring your own. For those who wish to fire pieces here, we can work out a per-piece price. The weekends are:

April 13 and 14 (focus on functional hand-building with narrative/ intuitive mark-making and sculptural additions)

May 18 and 19 (focus on sculpting facial features and creating wall sculpture)

June 22 and 23 (focus on the hand as sculpture- learn to build a life-size hand, adding abstracted imagery to complete the piece)

September and October - TBA
